1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 57

Easter Thanksgiving

1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 57

I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • I am Thankful for the Cross
    • 1 Corinthians 15:3   I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. cChrist died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.
    • Romans 5:6-9   When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willling to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation.
    • Colossians 2:14   He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
  • I am Thankful for the Resurrection
    • 1 Corinthians 15:4   He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
    • John 11:25   "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying."
    • Revelation 1:18   I am the living one. I died, but look - I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
    • 1 Corinthians 15:6-8   After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the aposles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.
    • Romans 10:9   If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
  • I am Thankful for my Faith
    • 1 Corinthians 15:17-19   And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.
    • 1 Corinthians 15:20   But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.

Conclusion:

1 Corinthians 15:57   But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
