God's Will For You

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Introdution:

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18   For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.

Matthew 24:44   You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.

Hebrews 10:25   And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

  • Be Joyful
      • 1 Thessalonians 5:16   Always be joyful.
      • 1 Thessalonians 1:5-7   For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you. So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord. As a result, you have become an example to all the believers in Greece-throughout both Macedonia and Achaia.
      • Psalm 51:11-12   Do not banish me from your presence, and don't take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
  • Be Prayerful
      • 1 Thessalonians 5:17   Never stop praying.
      • Romans 12:12   Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
      • Colossians 4:2   Devote yourselves in prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
      • Ephesians 6:18   Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
  • Be Thankful
      • 1 Thessalonians 5:18   Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
      • Colossians 2:6-7   And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must contnue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
      • Philippians 4:6-7   Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
